“I consider myself a Steinway Artist because I have practiced, studied on and performed on Steinway pianos since I was 4. I have owned a New York Steinway B since I was 10, and a Hamburg A for the past 25 years. I have performed on the magnificent FDR - designed Steinway in the White House. Both at the Curtis and Julliard Schools where I studied Steinway is used exclusively. At the Australian National Academy of Music, where I am Head of Piano, Steinway is the only teaching and performing instrument. I consider Steinway to be the Gold Standard to which any other instrument is to be compared. Regardless of repertoire whether it be the depth and richness of Brahms, the colour and warmth of Chopin, the clarity of Bach or Scarlatti, the brilliance of Liszt - Steinway can bring to life any variety of tone and colour the music requires.
